Q: What are the practical benefits of being a member of Alpha Mu Sigma?
A: Membership to Alpha Mu Sigma provides numerous opportunities to develop leadership and interpersonal skills through workshops, positions and holding an officership. Through volunteering with Alpha Mu Sigma, a member is laying down a foundation of service to build upon for years to come.
Q:What is the cost of a membership?
A:Membership is $100 per semester. However, scholarships are available by application.
Q: What about the use of alcohol, illegal substances, irresponsible behavior and hazing?
A. Alpha Mu Sigma upholds the same non-discrimination policies as UMW. We do not discriminate based on race, color, physical disability, marital status, sex, age, color, national origin, ancestry, sexual orientation, or political affiliation.
Alpha Mu Sigma does not allow hazing. We define hazing as any activity meant to separate a member through an act or acts of humiliation and we also adhere to the policies of the University. We do not allow for any hazing during the education period of Alpha Mu Sigma or at any time. Any member found to be committing an act of, or supporting hazing, shall be removed from the fraternity and will no longer be allowed to be affiliated with Alpha Mu Sigma.
Q: How can Alpha Mu Sigma help my son or daughter academically?
A: Alpha Mu Sigma encourages all members to keep and maintain a minimum GPA of at least 2.5.
Q:How does my son or daughter get involved?
A: Getting involved with Alpha Mu Sigma is quite easy. Alpha Mu Sigma recruits during the Fall semester. Your son or daughter will spend six weeks in "Education", which allows your son or daughter to get to know all the members and policies of Alpha Mu Sigma.
